Passcodes to Peril

Passcodes to Peril is the story of kidnap and violence when foreign thieves steal Research documents and a prototype for a quantum Computer from the team captain of the UNSW State League football team.

Team coach Len is a former World Cup player for Poland, brought to Australia as a marquee player in the A-league. He comes with street-smart skills from his youth living in a town occupied by Soviet Military forces during the war with Afghanistan, and he is instrumental in trying to recover the stolen property.

Lake Friction tells the story of when Len moves to his new destination to try to promote the Morisset United football club to A-league status. His first task is to fill in for the Under-18 youth team when the normal coach visits his failing father in England. Environmental activists create violence and death affecting the team and taking a wrong course of action. Len’s skills are useful in trying to solve the problems of players and supporters.

The youth members of the team initiate Len to the pristine nature of Lake Macquarie, the water sports available, the tourist potential, and the risks for pollution.

Lake Rage continues the Lake theme when Len takes on the coaching of the senior team. The story begins with the assassination attempt of the local Government minister who lives in a palatial mansion on the shoreline close to the Trinity Point Marina. Len’s niece, who has just completed high school, was travelling with the minister to holiday with Len and is traumatised by the shooting and taken home to Khancoban to recuperate. An attempt is taken to murder Len on his drive back to Morisset.

Len becomes embroiled in the search for the assassin and the reason for attacks on himself requiring his special skills. During this there is an exciting discovery of a linked serious crime, an explosive conclusion, and life changing consequences.

Bio.

Ron played State Grade football, then coached. His engineering career led him to the position of Chief Engineer of Australia’s largest telco. He made presentations to American and Asian telcos, and to the Pacific Forum where he also played golf against Brigadier-General Sitiveni Rabuka weeks after his Fijian coup.

Ron has articles published in the Telecommunication Journal of Australia including “Creativity – Who’s got it and how do we use it”. He and his wife Jann moved to Dora Creek, Lake Macquarie, and he began writing. First, booklets on coaching and the ancestry of his family.

Then came the challenge and the pleasures of writing fiction. His Mystery/Thriller “Lake Friction” was published in 2020 and “Passcodes to Peril” is currently being published.  Lake Rage, like the others, has the same protagonist, but can stand alone.
